With the Student Activities Office decorated in red, white and blue balloons, a crowd of more than 50 students and staff posed questions and voiced concerns about the college at the annual Pizza with the Presidents event on Nov. 10. The Chaffey community will have a chance to help the homeless when Jim Bonner and Friends present a variety show, "Musical Extravaganza," in the Theater on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m.
Ladies and gentlemen: This year I was excited to think about the bright future that our country and state were headed. I felt like a kid waiting for Santa Claus to come down the chimney. But Santa never came, and I had to enter the world of reality and understand that some things are just a dream.
With the Chaffey population growing each year, the satellite programs that are offered have become a great way to take classes elsewhere. The newly designed Chino campus has 16 classrooms, which include biology and chemistry labs, large lecture halls and many success centers.
The wine from the Chaffey campus grape harvest is ready for Thanksgiving! Joseph P. Filippi, local fourth generation vintner, donated the Alicante Bouschet grape vines. Maintenance and harvesting is done by the Joseph Filippi Winery. Situated on the two-acre northwest corner of the campus and bordered by Haven and Wilson, the beautiful agricultural demonstration vineyard is used to provide the campus with a scenic garden, while also providing the winery with much needed land in the face of urban sprawl.
Recent ASCC presidents have been able to blend in with the body they represent. When not speaking in front of large crowds or sitting in on important meetings with the governing board, it is common for the average student to walk past their lead representative and not even give it an afterthought.
October was Breast Cancer Awareness month and concluded quite informatively on Oct. 30 with a guest speaker from Loma Linda University Cancer Institute.
