Facebook, emailing, talking and texting during lecture are not a part of class and should not be tolerated. It pisses me off!
Students come to class and act like they‘re still in grade school as if everything outside of the classroom is more important. They talk in class while the teacher is giving a lecture so loud that the person sitting in front of them can’t hear the teacher.
Hello, people. There are online classes that you can take next time and you can talk all you want. Give up that valuable seat to someone who wants to listen to the lecture and learn.
A student in my math class turned on her iPod loud enough for everyone within two seats of her to hear it. She had to be told to turn the music down and had an attitude about it.
In the same class, the instructor gave out the syllabus and spelled out clearly that we could not use cell phones while in class. No more than five minutes after that a phone rang in the back of th e room, and the lady answered it and held a full-blown conversation.
It is beyond me why people don’t respect the opportunity given to them to be students at a college. Classroom guidelines have been the same since grade school, but people have changed. They no longer respect the classroom environment, themselves or the teachers when they ignore common sense rules and standards for classroom conduct.
Bottom line, some students should get out of their seat, walk to the admissions office to use the computers and drop all their classes. Then go home and log onto Facebook and update their friends to let them know they’re no longer wasting space in a classroom.
