It is that time of year again. As many students prepare for final exams, others are preparing for graduation. Each year the college hosts a number of banquets where representatives from different departments honor select students. This year the awards were held during the week of May 7.
Although most students knew they would be presented with either awards or scholarships, others were kept in the dark.
Other students such as Kenneth Ryczko and Carl Miller of the Aeronautics Department knew they would be receiving something at the awards ceremony but did not know what it was.
“If it’s money, I’d like to use it to buy tools for work.” Miller said.
Students are chosen for awards by teachers and department coordinators in recognition of their efforts and achievements throughout the year.
“It feels great. Every student needs an occasional atta-boy or girl sometimes,” said Ryczko. “I’m married and work and come to school full time. I could use a scholarship. I thought it was really cool.”
