On a sunny Saturday morning, students from some 8 junior high and high schools gathered in the Chaffey cafeteria for the 3rd session of a five week robotics camp. They had been learning to build robots to enter into a competition and on this morning, April 18, they would learn what they were up against as they set their robots for their debut run.

The robots would compete in rounds of two, set in a square hockey field, with points given for the most balls placed in the goals and in the tubes set on the floor. Points were also awarded for design, style, performance, and team spirit.

The final competition will be held and awards presented at a Career Conference May 8 and 9, at the Ontario Convention Center. Chaffey College collaborates with the Workforce Investment Board and the West EndCareer Technical Education Collaborative in this outreach program in engineering and technology.

Students from Pioneer, Magnolia, Townsend, Upland Jr High, Fontana, Don Lugo and Chino Hills High Schools were represented on the teams that participated in the competition.
