Construction Update

Student Services / Administration Building:

Scope: Construction of a 24,828 square-foot two-story building. This student services functions will include counseling, transfer, financial aid, registration, admissions and an assessment center. The administration functions will include human resources, marketing, administrative services, meeting spaces and offices for the college administration.

Status: The Contractor continues to make good progress with the installation of 1st and 2nd floor ceiling grid, paint, exterior wall stucco, windows and curtain wall mullions, and MEP finishes.

Expected completion: March 2007.


Science Complex:

Scope: Construction of four buildings, an aviary, accessible parking, and emergency access roads.

Status:

    Aviary: The cables and netting have been installed. Waiting on the glass store front.
    Building A [Administration]: The HVAC controls and floor surfaces to be completed within the next two weeks. Architect's inspection and punch list will be in mid-February.
    Building B1 [Biology]: The HVAC controls to be completed within the next two weeks. Architect's inspection and punch list will be in mid-February.
    Building B2 [Biology]: The metal casework has been delivered and is being installed. Electral, plumbing, and data installations are in progress. Completion of the HVAC controls and flooring will be completed in about five weeks.
    Building C [Chemistry]: Architect's inspection and punch list has been accomplished.

Chino Instructional Building:

Scope: This two-story 55,000 square-foot facility will be the first building constructed on the new Chino Campus. The facility will consist of classrooms, science labs, computer labs, lecture halls, faculty offices and administration / student service space. The project also includes parking lots hard-scape site lighting and utilities.

Status: The underground utilities are 90% complete; reclaimed water and gas are complete. Steel fabrication has begun in Montana and in Lancaster, CA. First delivery of steel expected in the middle of February. Floor slab has been poured.

Expected completion: December 2007.


Educational Excellence Center:

Scope: Construction of a 14,738 square-foot two-story building. The Education Excellence Center [EEC] will include assessment centers, faculty offices and computer laboratories. The new facility is being constructed at the norther part of campus which is integrated with the Language Arts building plaza by a connecting bridge to the second floor of the EEC building and to the campus center area by a first floor entrance.

Status: The Contractor has completed the roof system and exterior stucco. Work continues on the installation of 1st & 2nd floor ceiling grid, paint, windows and pedestrian bridge.

Expected completion: March 2007.


Fontana Center:

Scope: Construction of a 10,140 square-foot building which will house classrooms, computer lab, student services, a large lecture room and faculty and staff offices.

Status: Completed and turned over to Chaffey College on December 8, 2006.

Building Dedication occurred on: January 11, 2007.
